Reading Partners

Reading Partners New York is excited to launch our Refer A Friend Campaign to help us engage more tutors to support our students. Our goal is to serve 920 students this year, and we need your support to do so! If each volunteer recruited just one friend, we would surpass our enrollment goal and serve even more students. Reading Partners’ volunteers know just how fun and rewarding tutoring a student each week can be - here’s what RPNY tutor, Ken Berkowitz, has to say about his experience with our program:

“My initial reasons for getting involved with Reading Partners were essentially what you might expect -- I was recently retired and had too much time on my hands. Plus, trite as it might sound, I wanted to do something a little meaningful and give back to the community. To my pleasant surprise, Reading Partners actually meets my goals. It is truly enriching to spend time tutoring these young students. Another plus is that Reading Partners has an established format with empirically proven positive results demonstrating significant improvements in the students' reading abilities. My weekly tutoring experience truly brightens my day each time I tutor. I really like "my students" and I can actually see their reading skills improve.

You might be surprised at how many of your friends and family are looking to do something gratifying and rewarding. I encourage you to let them know about becoming a Reading Partners tutor. They will thank you for it.”
